SevenMinds Spectrum Consulting is committed to supporting families and individuals in their efforts to manage and overcome social and behavioral challenges. Founder Lorraine Millan, has been serving families living with social and behavioral challenges for over 20 years. She hold's a Master's degree from NYU's School of Education with degree in Applied Psychology. She has also completed a number of continuing education courses in neurology and psychology, including advanced training in Collaborative Problem Solving by Dr. Ross Greene. She is the mother of four, with a child on the spectrum.
As a special needs mom herself, Lorraine understands the ongoing challenges that are faced by families on a daily basis. Over the past fifteen years, she has dedicated herself to improving the lives of spectrum disordered individuals and their families in the NYC area. It is Lorraine's goal to expand competent and compassionate care to this greatly misunderstood and under-serviced population.
Lorraine started her career as a behavior management specialist and worked closely with a number of families living with severe behavioral issues. After her own son was diagnosed, she turned her attention to improving services for individuals with Autism in her community. She was a founding member of several special needs non-profit organizations. She also assisted in the development of two specialized school programs for the NYC Department of Education. For eight years, Lorraine was the Director of the Center for Social Communication Enhancement, a social skills and outreach program. Lorraine regularly provides professional training and advisement to local public and parochial schools, agencies, therapists and medical professionals in her community. She is currently serving on the Advisory Board for Parent to Parent, NY Inc. and facilitates their Asperger's Support Group.
